As a Certified Chest Pain Center, NorthCrest Medical Center is highly equipped to handle cardiac emergencies. Our team is able to quickly identify patients experiencing chest pain and provide treatment to stabilize a patient and prevent a heart attack or quickly respond to a heart attack to decrease damage.

In 2017, NorthCrest partnered with the Robertson County Health Council to bring the COPD Foundation’s Harmonicas for Health program to Robertson and surrounding counties. This program teaches individuals with COPD better breathing techniques through practicing songs on the harmonica. Through practice, participants benefit from the ability to take larger, fuller breaths, produce more productive coughs, get less winded walking, and more. This program is vital to our community as an estimated 10,000 Robertson County residents having COPD.

NorthCrest offers a distinguished team of heart and vascular experts experienced in the most advanced diagnostic techniques in surgical, interventional, and treatment procedures.

HeartView

Find out if you’re a heart attack candidate, or at risk for heart disease, with a HeartView at NorthCrest. The HeartView is a calcium scoring test using a CT scan to detect hardening or “calcified” plaque inside the arteries of the heart. The HeartView uses state-of-the-art multi-slice technology to produce clear images of the beating heart which is then reconstructed into a three-dimensional (3D) picture of the heart.

Many people are at risk for heart disease without showing any symptoms. A HeartView is the best way to understand your heart and get ahead of a cardiac event (like a heart attack). Anyone can participate in a HeartView with a provider’s order, but individuals over 50 with risk factors may benefit the most. Risk factors for heart disease include:

  • Family history of heart disease
  • Increasing age
  • Smoking cigarettes
  • High cholesterol
  • High blood pressure
  • Physical inactivity
  • Obesity
  • Diabetes

The test is painless, lasts only a few minutes, and does not require any special preparations before the exam. The exam does not require you to remove your clothes, be stuck with needles, ingest dyes, or be tested in an enclosed space.

Cath Lab

Our cardiovascular catheterization (cath) lab houses state-of-the-art cardiac lab equipment used to visualize the arteries and chambers of the heart. The imaging equipment in the cath lab is used in a variety of procedures.

These procedures include:

  • Heart catheterization
  • Blockages in the kidneys and legs
  • Kyphoplasty
  • Coronary Angioplasty
  • Pacemaker placement
  • Stent placement

Cardiac Rehabilitation

The NorthCrest Cardiac Rehabilitation program includes two phases of cardiac rehab tailored to meet the needs and conditions of each individual participant. Participants in this educational exercise program will learn about their anatomy, safe activity levels, risk factors, medications, diet, and stress levels as they safely establish good exercise habits.

Cardiac rehabilitation may prove beneficial to you if you have had:

  • Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery
  • Valve Repair/Replacement Surgery
  • A Pacemaker or Defibrillator Implants
  • Balloon Angioplasty Atherectomy
  • A Heart Transplant
  • Angina Pectoris/Chest Pain
