SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (June 10, 2009) – NorthCrest Medical Center and the NorthCrest Medical Staff were recently privileged to host a continuing education lecture by the renowned physician Geoffrey S. Ling, M.D., Ph.D. Ling was on hand to discuss long term management of patients with ischemic stroke.
Ling has a very distinguished background in neurology and has researched traumatic brain injury and stroke. He is a professor of neurology and is the vice-chair of neurology at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences located in Bethesda, Md. Ling is also colonel in the U.S. Army.
Ling has published papers and spoken internationally on subjects such as blunt and penetrating brain trauma, spinal cord trauma, anoxic brain trauma, cytokines and cell cycle regulators, and advanced prosthesis.
“We are fortunate to have such a world recognized research physician come to our campus,” said Tommy Crunk, M.D.
Ling was also recently featured on CBS’s 60 Minutes for his work with the Pentagon on the development of a life changing, high tech prosthetic arm.
