NorthCrest Rehabilitation Center

Quality Healthcare
At NorthCrest Medical Center Rehabilitation Center, we are dedicated to serving the healthcare needs of our community. We've partnered with Star Physical Therapy to bring you the best that healthcare has to offer. We are committed to providing superior treatment for orthopaedic and neurological problems, including physical, occupational, and sports therapy.

The NorthCrest Rehab staff aims to provide a positive atmosphere to promote progressive recovery, as well as to improve quality of life. Our goal is to provide quality rehabilitation while using interdisciplinary, goal-oriented programs to achieve the highest standard of recovery for each individual. Our hands-on care and friendly staff also provide the personal attention to enhance each individual’s recovery.

Comprehensive Rehabilitation
The NorthCrest Rehab Center offers a comprehensive program to individuals who are recovering from injury or disease, such as an orthopaedic surgery or injury, athletic injury, fracture, spine surgery, stroke, or even a job-related injury. The therapist will screen the individual and determine the most feasible therapeutic program. Ongoing assessments are then performed during the duration of treatment to ensure achievement of individual goals.

At NorthCrest Rehab, we encourage the patient’s active participation in improvement of quality of life.

Physical Therapy
Patients who have been physically affected by an illness or injury perform exercises and activities that will help them gain mobility, balance, muscle strength and joint flexibility, thereby achieving the highest possible function within the limits of their injury of illness.

The physical therapist will evaluate each patient, establish a treatment plan and implement a program designed to meet the needs of the individual patient. Functional mobility, equipment assessment, home modification and family teaching will be incorporated into the patient’s program.

Occupational Therapy
Occupational therapy assists a person in achieving functional independence following injury or in recovering from a disease process. Patients are assessed for movement, strength, coordination, cognition, vision and sensation, and treated through the use of exercise and carefully selected activities. These exercises are a graded progress toward the return to independence.

Hand Therapy
Occupational therapists who have specialized skills in treating upper extremity injuries provide hand therapy at NorthCrest Rehab. Specific hand therapy programs are designed to manage acute or chronic pain, to desensitize nerve injuries, to re-educate nerves following surgery, and to increase motion, dexterity, and strength.

Sports Medicine Outreach Program
The NorthCrest Rehab Center puts your student athlete at the center of our attention with the NorthCrest sports medicine program. With specialized training and certifications, the NorthCrest sports medicine athletic trainers stand ready to take care of our high school student athletes during a practice or sporting event. Lead by a NorthCrest Orthopaedic Surgeon, the sports medicine physician team works with the athletic trainers and emergency medical service personnel to provide medical coverage during local high school football games and home events. In addition, the sports medicine team provides free seminars for coaching staffs, as well as free medical assessments on Saturday mornings during football season.

Aquatic Therapy
Aquatic therapy is an innovative form of therapy that enhances all types of rehab programs. Each session may include gait training, strengthening, stretching, passive and active range of motion exercises, as well as functional training. Aquatic therapy provides a medium to enhance rehabilitation of orthopaedic surgeries, including joint replacement, ankle, knee, shoulder, or spine surgeries. The buoyancy of water decreases weight bearing to joints, therefore increasing ease of movement and decreasing pain. Aquatic therapy also provides the optimal environment to practice functional activities, such as walking, which may be too difficult, painful, or unsafe on land.

Wound Care
Upon any insult to the skin, whether it is a scrape, a vascular or a diabetic ulcer, the body reacts in a specific fashion to heal itself. At NorthCrest Rehab, our therapists are trained to understand those phases of healing and apply them, helping to establish the optimal wound environment to promote healing. This is achieved by closely monitoring progress of the patient at each session and applying modifications if needed. Our close communication with physicians provides a teamwork approach in achieving the optimal results for the individual. Common wounds treated include: diabetic ulcers, arterial insufficiency, burns, pressure sores, traumatic injuries, and venous stasis ulcers.

Industrial Rehabilitation
NorthCrest Rehab recognizes the special rehabilitation needs of the injured worker. Our focus is on functional capacity to return the patient to work at the highest level of function. We also offer employers our expertise in prevention of injury/illness and evaluation of return to work potential.

We provide ergonomic specialists in offering the following services:

  • Work Conditioning
  • Functional Capacity Evaluations
  • Industrial Education
  • Post-Offer Employee Evaluations
  • Ergonomic Job Analysis

Work Conditioning
A transitional program for injured workers who are unable to return to full duty employment following an injury, which can be coordinated with light duty work.

  • Treatment goals include:
  • Restoration of function to facilitate full return-to-work.
  • Increased strength, range of motion, endurance, improved posture, and work tolerance.
  • Safety and education to reduce the risk of re-injury.

Functional Capacity Evaluations
Specialty trained clinicians provide a comprehensive assessment to determine an individual’s ability to work at a particular level. An objective, easily read report includes information regarding:

  • Lifting ability
  • Functional range of motion
  • Postural tolerances
  • Hand function
  • Cardio respiratory fitness
  • Endurance
  • Pain Profile
  • Validity testing

These functional abilities are compared to the worker’s job requirements to determine return-to-work potential.

Industrial Education
On-site programs are available to improve employees’ awareness of hazardous working postures, symptom control, and injury prevention. Techniques include:

  • Back to Basics and educational program to prevent back injuries.
  • Exercise programs to improve overall fitness and strength, which greatly reduces the risk of injuries.

Post-Offer Employee Evaluations
Essential functional testing to determine whether an individual has the physical capability to perform essential job requirements. Test results are compared with the essential functions of the job to prevent job-worker mismatches, thereby preventing potential injuries. Testing complies with the American Disabilities Act (ADA) and includes:

  • Lifting analysis
  • Upper extremity risk factors
  • Metabolic demand testing

Ergonomic Job Analysis
We provide an assessment of the critical job demands to determine the worker’s ability and timeframe to return to work; possible interventions to provide safer approaches to the job; baseline criteria for employee evaluations; and evaluation of reasonable accommodations the employer may provide for the employee to return to full-time work.

NorthCrest Medical Center Mission
“Our mission is to enhance community and patient wellness through the teamwork of skilled and compassionate employees and physicians.”
