History of NCMC

NorthCrest Medical Center, which began operations in 1956 under the name of Jesse Holman Jones Hospital, is located in Springfield, Tennessee (30 miles north of Nashville), and serves Robertson and surrounding counties as well as southern Kentucky.

December 1995 marked the hospital's move to a new medical complex located on 43 acres. The 109-bed facility represents multiple specialties supported by state-of-the-art equipment, including an in-house cardiovascular lab, a full range of outpatient services and 24-hour emergency services. The NorthCrest campus includes three medical office buildings.  Additionally, the NorthCrest Care Center, located in Medical Office Building 400, was opened in the fall of 1998 to take care of the medical needs of our industrial partners, as well as to treat the non-urgent, walk-in patients.

More than 100 active and consulting physicians are on the medical center staff. They provide a variety of services that allow patients the opportunity to receive specialized care locally.  Some of the specialties of the NorthCrest physicians include cardiology, diagnostic and interventional radiology, emergency medicine, family practice, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology, obstetrics/gynecology ophthalmology, orthopedics, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat), pediatrics, plastic and reconstructive surgery, pulmonology, general and vascular surgery, and urology.

Ancillary capabilities include accredited peripheral vascular imaging, accredited mammography, ultrasound, MRI, and CT, cardiac rehabilitation, home health/hospice, sleep lab, and sports medicine. Also the women's services department features certified inpatient obstetrics, certified lactation consultation, and high-risk newborn care nurses as well as family-oriented birthing suites.

The McMurry Emergency Department features a completely paperless system, contributing to improve patient privacy and to reduce medication errors. It’s the only completely paperless ER in Tennessee.  Community education programs are ongoing at NorthCrest.  Classes, seminars and workshops on healthy eating, diabetes care, smoking cessation, CPR and AED (automatic external defibrillator) are a few of the programs offered. The medical center also provides workshops, health fairs and health screenings. Support groups meet regularly. They include cancer survivors, cardiac patients, diabetics, Parkinson’s disease, and adults and children who have experienced the loss of a loved one.

NorthCrest Medical Center has earned the Gold Seal of Approval, and is fully accredited, by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.
